Welcome to another exciting year of learning at Joy James Elementary. As the new principal, I will lead this campus in building on the success that has been achieved in the past while challenging the students and staff members to reach new goals in the future. Our theme, "Building on Success" also reflects the changes that are in store for the Joy James building; a renovated main entry and front office area and a new wing to replace the portable buildings on the west end of the school. Coffee with the Counselor
Parents of Joy James Students,
    Welcome back to the 2010 - 2011 school year. I certainly hope each of you had a wonderful summer. Mine was simply wonderful complete with lots of time with my family.

I want to give you the dates for our Coffee with the Counselor meetings. Please plan to join us for this warm time of gathering together, talking, meeting new people and enjoying refreshments! You are a vital part of our Coffee with the Counselor and I enjoy this time with you sincerely!
    The dates are:   Friday, September 3                 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
                            Friday, November 5                  8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
                            Friday, January 21                    8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
                            Friday, April 15                        8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
As we've done the past two years we will have guest speakers. Our first meeting will have two guest speakers. Our new principal will be speaking; this will be a wonderful opportunity to meet and get to know Mrs. Courtney. I've also invited the JPS Clinic to speak again about the services available to our JJE families. Please join us!

No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Report Cards for the state, the district and each of the district's
campuses are now available. If you would like to view the Texas NCLB Report Cards,
please click here. Information on these report cards include:

  • Assessment results for the LEA and campuses
  • Graduation rates for secondary school students.
  • Performance of school district and campuses on adequate yearly progress (AYP) measures.
  • Number and names of Title I schools identified as in need of improvement
  • Professional qualifications of teachers in the LEA and campuses
