Dr. Jill Matson Wins Jack Harvey Award
|
As a tribute to the memory of well-respected, master teacher Jack Harvey, the Jack Harvey Fellowship Award for Exemplary Teachers has been established at Weatherford College to recognize commendable teachers in the College's service area. Joy James Elementary's very own Teacher of the Year, Dr. Jill Matson, was selected to receive this award on Friday, January 25, 2013. Dr. Matson is an exemplary educator because she consistently provides a nurturing enviroment in her classroom. Children of all backgrounds and abilities are able to experience success in her classroom. Building and maintaining relationships with students, parents, and other professionals is the hallmark of Jill's approach to education. She reaches out to students in her classroom, finding the strengths in each one and helping each child feel valued and important. She reaches out to parents and helps them to connect with our school and see their role in the education of their children. She reaches out to other educators, by modeling her belief that we are each responsible for the education and well-being of all the children on our campus. Jill is a person of integrity, compassion, and determination to make a positive difference in the lives of every student, parent, and fellow educator within her realm of influence.
