When will counselors be available?

 We are here for you and for the families of Joy James Elementary. Please let us know how we can help!

Mrs. Hammond will be available for students and parents by video Google Meet conferencing Monday through Thursday between 9:00AM to 11:00AM and 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Mrs. Hammond is available to staff all day, and will be in Professional Learning Communities on Fridays.

Lauren Ward is available Mondays and Tuesdays by phone or Google Meet conferencing throughout the day.

How can a student contact the counselor or social worker?

• Students can ask their teacher to refer them to the counselor
• Students can fill out the counseling referral form

How can a parent let us know they need assistance?

• Parents can reach out via social media like the JJE Facebook Page
• Email Mrs. Hammond or Lauren Ward directly
• Let a teacher or administrator know so they can pass on your message
• Fill out the Counseling Referral Form

How can a teacher let us know that a student or family needs assistance?

• Email, call, or text Mrs. Hammond
• Complete the Counseling Referral Form

What will we be doing?

• Creating social emotional lessons to share with students via learning platform
• Reaching out to families and students who we see individually to check-in
• Small groups
• Monitoring emails and learning platforms for concerns
• Sending out information to our community- or pushing out information on the Facebook pages and other media outlets
• 504 meetings remotely
• Contacting parents of students who we have not heard from or is not completing work
