The Joy James staff always puts kids and families first. So it wasn’t too surprising when they decided to flip Teacher Appreciation Week as a chance to thank our JJE parents and families for rising to the challenges associated with Remote Learning. Teacher Appreciation week kicked off with a video sent to parents featuring staff members thanking families for their dedication and support to learning during Remote Learning. Each staff member provided a short message for parents, all of which were combined into a sincere tribute. The week culminated in a “Parent Appreciation Parade” on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Faculty came prepared with Thank You signs, noisemakers, and even costumes to thank our families, who were thrilled to see their teachers again, even from an appropriate social distance. Our parents took the opportunity to thank the teachers as well, bringing signs of their own, decorating their cars, and shouting thank yous from their vehicles. The story was featured on NBC5’s Carter in the Classroom segment that afternoon. Click here to see the story from NBC5. We truly love and miss learning in person with our JJE leaders.
