Students dressed as storybook characters and parading down hall

On October 27th, Joy James Elementary wrapped up their Red Ribbon Week activities with their 4th Annual Storybook Parade. Pre-K through second grade students selected a storybook of their choice to read, study, and design a costume to wear for the parade. Older students in the third through fifth grades also served as mentors to the younger students by helping them study their stories, make their costumes, and by creating the parade banners for each class.

When the morning of the parade brought in cold weather and gusty winds, the students, staff, and parents of Joy James adapted by bringing the parade indoors. Friends and families lined the hallways. The upper grades, who were also lined up to watch the parade. Storybooks of all genres and varieties were celebrated - from Pete the Cat to Harry the Dirty Dog to The Adventures of Taxi Dog! Castleberry would like to extend a big thank you to all of our students for their hard work, and to all of the parents and staff who turned out to support us!
