On August 29th, the faculty and staff of Joy James Elementary welcomed parents and students with a “Back to School Bash”.   Over 500 excited visitors entered the building, excited to learn more about their school community.  The evening started off with a delicious hot dog dinner which gave our parents and staff an opportunity to mingle and to also enjoy snow cones from Kona Ice. During this time JJE also showcased various clubs and programs that are offered providing information to parents about upcoming activities.  The clubs and programs that were highlighted include Recycling Club, Running Club, Honors Choir Club, Student Council, Chess Club, UIL, and our Volunteer program.  All of these programs foster leadership qualities in our students and encourage our families to be involved in the school community.

After dinner, parents and students visited classrooms where teachers reviewed academic expectations, curriculum, classroom procedures, Parent Communication Folders, homework expectations and helpful resources that parents could use at home to enhance student learning.  It was great to see so many supportive families that night.  Joy James staff, parents and students are all definitely “Unstoppable” this school year!
