2011-2012 Objectives

Castleberry ISD Mission Statement

The mission of Castleberry ISD is to graduate all students as lifelong learners who will excel in our changing world and competitive workplace.

Strategic Goal 1:

Focus on Student Growth and Success

Objective 1:              Raise the academic performance of all students

  • 1.1A Increase passing rates of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in all population groups on end of year benchmarks and state assessments in math and reading by providing targeted interventions in small group settings.
  • 1.1B Decrease number of students who are retained in grades 2-5 by providing targeted interventions, after-school tutoring, and mentors for students retained in the current year.
  • 1.1C Increase comprehension scores of students in grades K-5 by direct teaching of comprehension strategies across content areas, teaching academic vocabulary, and increasing teacher read-aloud times for modeling comprehension strategies.
  • 1.1D Implement small group literacy instruction during core reading block in conjunction with Daily 5 rotations to promote literacy skills and independence in K-3rd grade classrooms.

Objective 2:              Promote a strong digital learning environment

  • 1.2A Provide lab opportunities for fifth graders to work on integrated technology projects daily. Schedule students in grades K-4 so that their time in the lab complements their classroom schedule more efficiently.
  • 1.2B Librarian will conduct three netbook research lessons with students in 3rd,4th, and 5th grades  throughout the school year.
  • 1.2C Teachers will integrate technology into lesson delivery daily through the use of document cameras, Smartboards, and other technology as available.
  • 1.2D Students will complete technology projects and present to parents at a campus technology fair.

Strategic Goal 2

Focus on Safe and Orderly Learning and Working Environment

Objective 1:  Monitor and improve the safety and security programs

  • 2.1A Provide for the safety of students and staff during the building renovations by instructing students in “Construction Code of Conduct” and monitoring construction areas before and after school.
  • 2.1B Develop and communicate new procedures for arrival, dismissal,  and visitors on campus in preparation for the opening of the new entry and office area.
  • 2.1C Emphasize bully-prevention in counseling lessons, Capturing Kids’ Hearts lessons, and through the implementation of Conscious Discipline strategies.

Strategic Goal 3

Focus on Staff

Objective 1: Recruit and retain the highest quality of staff

  • 3.1A  Increase staff attendance to 97.5% through incentives and recognitions.
  • 3.1B  Provide training for all staff in ”Roaring Customer Service” and recognize staff for showing exceptional customer service.

Objective 2: Provide multiple avenues for professional development

  • 3.2A Provide feedback to teachers following informal walk throughs
  • 3.2B Develop Campus Leadership Team as instructional leaders, by providing resources and training to help them address the needs of their teams

Strategic Goal 4

Focus on Schools, Family, and Community Engagement

Objective 1:   Encourage engagement through communication

  • 4.1A Teachers will establish and maintain positive relationships with each of their students’ parents by conducting face-to-face meetings at school or by visiting at home with parents who are unable to attend parent conferences by Sept. 30, 2011 (For Kindergarten Oct. 30, 2011).
  • 4.1B Promote our school as a Joyful Learning Community*  by providing a safe, supportive learning environment, implementing a customer service approach in our front office, encouraging involvement in PTO, and providing three or more opportunities during the school year for families to participate in learning at school.  *Conscious Discipline refers to “School Family,” but we like the term “Community” because it is more inclusive, not replacing the traditional family, but extends the concept of family by including all school staff, parents, volunteers, and students.

Objective 2:  Encourage and support learning at home

Objective 3:   Build and support the family and community as a resource

  • 4.3A Offer parenting classes to promote Conscious Discipline at home, internet safety, child development, and health.
  • 4.3B Each grade level will post a minimum of two documents to their website each month. Documents are to include news of upcoming events and ideas for extending the learning at home.

Strategic Goal 5

Focus on Effective and Efficient Operations

Objective 1:   Continue to be fiscally responsible

  • 5.1A  Utilize budgeted dollars wisely and effectively to maintain high-quality instructional services
  • 5.1B  Reduce paper usage with current technology

Objective 2:  Continue to develop and monitor Master Strategic Plan
